Three girls rescued from traffickers, 2 held

KHULNA, Jan 28: Police rescued three young girls and arrested two traffickers from a bus counter of Benapole while they were being trafficked to India Sunday.

The rescued girls were Hashi Khatun (17), daughter of Fazlul Haq of Natore district, Alo Beguem (18), daughter of Abul Hossain of Sariatpur and Nilufar Yasmin (20).

Officer in-charge of Benapole port thana AKM Faruk Hossain said that the girls were being trafficked with the promise of providing them better employment and were brought to Benapole by a coach left from Dhaka Gabtali bus stand.

The raised a hue and cry while they suspected they were being trafficked. On informion police went to the spot and rescued them and arrested two members of the trafficking syndicate.

The arrested were Zahid, son of Abdul Jalil of Dinajpur and Lokman Hossain, son of Soliman Hossain of Mymensing.

A case was filed in this connection with Benapole thana.
