College student killed in Sylhet

SYLHET, Jan 28 (UNB): A college student was killed over a trifling mater in South Surma upazila of the district on Sunday evening.

Incensed at the killing, locals set the house of the alleged killer on fire.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin,25, son of Abdul Kaiyum, resident of Pashchim Para village of Silam Union.

He was also a student of BA final year at Sylhet Government College.

Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Surma thana, said Nurul was severely injured as microbus driver Rafiq Ahmed chopped him at about 8.00 pm following an altercation between them over a trifling matter.

Nurul was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Hearing the news, agitated mass set Rafiq's house ablaze at about 9.00pm.

Preparation was going on to file a case.
